Social Security office to cut ribbon

The new Social Security Administration opened in January and is ready to celebrate. The St. Joseph Area Chamber of Commerce is having a ribbon cutting for the new office at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 17.

The administration relocated to 1402 N. Woodbine Road because of security and privacy concerns, not to mention more space. It had been at its North Belt Highway location for almost 20 years.

Social Security employees 18 people in St. Joseph and helps individuals file for retirement benefits, survivor benefits, disability assistance and Medicare and receive new or replacement Social Security cards.
