The St. Joseph Police Department is piecing together Tuesday morning events that led to a person being shot and a dozen people being arrested.
Police received a call at 12:39 a.m. reporting that several armed individuals were at 2118 Jules St. The situation culminated in a swarm of officers from the Police Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department working the scene until after dawn.
Capt. Kevin Castle, spokesman for the St. Joseph Police Department, wouldn’t say why the group of Hispanics and black men were gathered at the residence, but early
accounts from officers on the scene pointed to a possible drug deal gone bad, according to a report from St. Joe Now. Officers confiscated several weapons and narcotics in the residence.
In a sweep of the home, a Hispanic male was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released and then arrested along with several other men and at least one woman.
A member of the police department’s Special Response Team received stitches in his hand as a result of injuries sustained while clearing the home.
Officials charged five people Tuesday with burglary and seven with possession of a controlled substance. Those charged with burglary are: Jose A. Ojeda, 22; Lorenzo M. Rucker, 18; Edwin D. Dennis, 21; Jairo Camacho, 32; and Hector G. Camacho, 30.
Those charged with possession of a controlled substance are: Miguel Villegas-Cortez, 20; Agrasiano A. Davila, 21; Amber D. Ringot, 20; Socorro J. Rodriguez, 18; Adrian Ocon, 25; Daniel M. Ocon, 20; and Elderandrain Casaredz, 30.
All individuals face jail time.

They helped our police go to a home that was never suspect for drugs, and now our enforcement gets credited for the bust. If it wasn't for them, those dealers would be filling up our town with filth
