The driver of a vehicle that struck a ditch, overturned and then landed on its wheels Wednesday afternoon was hospitalized for her injuries.
Mary Welch, 78, was driving north on Missouri Route E six miles west of Parnell, Mo., when she lost control of her vehicle. The 2004 Chevrolet crossed the center line, struck a ditch and went airborne, overturning on impact before coming to rest on its wheels, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Ms. Welch was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Mo., and then taken by air ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Welch was in guarded condition at Heartland Wednesday evening, according to a nursing supervisor.
