If you have school age children, your week is probably getting more hectic by the minute. Some kids are already in school...other begin next week.
The Saint Joseph Police Department reminds you that back to school means taking time to slow down.
With kids back on campuses next week, officers will be on patrol to make sure drivers are staying alert and obeying school bus laws. Here's a reminder about those:
If a bus's yellow lights are flashing, it means it's preparing to stop to load or unload students. Motorists need to slow down and get ready to stop too.
If you see red flashing lights, or an extended stop arm, that means students are actually getting on or off the bus. You are required by law to stop your vehicle until the lights stop flashing, the arm is retracted and the bus begins moving again.
If the school bus is stopped or lights are flashing ou may not pass the bus.
