Missouri Western students headed back to school Monday, but some incoming freshman may not have a roof over their heads.

First year students at Missouri Western are required to live on campus for the first two semesters. But early this July, Residential Life sent letters to numerous freshman letting them know Western did not have room for them. They were then given the chance to cancel their housing contract and live off campus without penalty or be placed on a housing waiting list.

Director of Residential Life, Michael Speros, said at the moment they do not have any policies or procedures to help place students off campus, but Western is doing everything they can to help those homeless students. Speros said this is the first time since he has been here that Western has been over capacity. If this trend continues Residential Life will look at whether or not their housing policies need to change.
