A family camping trip almost turns to tragedy. But thanks to a six-year old girl her grandmother's life was saved.
"Then she went to the tent, I didn't saw her walk there or nothing, I just saw her laying in the tent, " Kali Justice said.
"I thought she was sick or maybe dying or something."
August 8th, Kali Justice and her family, along with her grandmother, Linda Long, were camping at Sugar Lake for Kali's birthday. After putting things away around the campsite, Long had a seizure and passed out in a tent away from the others. Luckily her granddaughter Kali noticed Long's feet hanging out of the tent, and she knew something was wrong.
She went over to her grandmother and tried to shake her awake. When that didn't work she began to scream for someone to call 911. Doctor's told Long, had she laid there any longer she would have died.
"If it wasn't for her, because they said it had been 10 to 15 minutes, and if it wasn't for her screaming and everything like she did and calling attention to it, so she's my little hero," Long said.
Long was life-flighted to St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City where she spent a week in ICU. She said her mind is still a little fuzzy, but she is back home, recovering thanks to her life-saving granddaughter.
