I know everyone is tired of seeing Top 10 lists from 2007 (including me), but last year left us nerds with a lot to talk about. Here is what I believe were the best things to come out of 2007.
Out of everything that was announced this past year, this was by far, the coolest. When this is released to the public it could completely change the way we shop, dine and entertain at home. It could easily be one of the biggest inventions that has hit our consumer market in a long time. I'm not sure how many people will enjoy using this as their coffee table, but I know that I would love to have one of these sitting in my living room. Ever wanted to get a new coffee table but didn't want to pay the money for a new one? Just click a few buttons and you've got yourself a new surface. On top of that, the ability that retailers and restaurants will have with this will allow them to get their product to you much easier than they ever have before. The only reason I put it at #5 is because of the rumored $10,000 price tag that goes along with it.

4) Stargate SG-1 - The Complete Series Collection
Every nerd remembers watching the original Stargate movie in 1994. Since then the Stargate SG-1 series entertained us for 10 years. Running longer than any other television show in history, it easily became a cult classic for nerds and sci-fi nuts everywhere. When I heard they were releasing the entire season in one box my ears immediately perked up. I've always wanted to own the entire series on DVD and this could be my best shot.
3) Vista and Leopard launch
Some would consider me putting these two together a sacrilege. We here at Nerds 2² Ever like to stay fair and unbalanced. Plus, both of these shaped the way we will use the computer for the next 2-3 years. Vista launched first and it was not without its usual pains and aches. Sadly, most people switched back to Windows XP after having numerous headaches following the upgrade. After years and years and years of people waiting for Microsoft to release their new operating system, it appears as though they still shipped it before it was completely ready. Microsoft, of course, claims that they will fix these issues through various Service Packs. Maybe they should have stuck with XP, they just now got it working right.
After Vista came the much harold Leopard from Apple. They claimed that it would blow Vista out of the water. Upon users getting their first hands on it, it appeared that Apple had come through on their promise. But it didn't take long before Apple users began to receive a few headaches of their own.
Both are working on Service Packs for 2008, so, like usual, we will have to sit back and watch how these products unfold over 2008.
2) Halo 3
If you don't know what Halo 3 is then you've been living in a cave. After breaking every record with its launch in September it's still one, if not the, most played game over Xbox Live. It was even one of the most played games when Microsoft released a limited release demo version of the game. Besides my number one choice, Halo 3 was the only thing released in 2007 that kids missed school for and employees took off work for. I know a lot of people who took sick days for a week just so they could get a hands on experience with this game. I've personally logged over 1,000 games and, like millions of others, I plan to log even more through 2008.
1) iPhone
Now, I know this product is used by more than nerds, but it still makes my list as the top nerd release of 2007. When the iPhone was first announced back in January it immediately leaped to the top of almost everyone's want list. But what puts this at the top is not how many people bought it, but because of the revolutionary product the iPhone really is. It's still too soon to see exactly how this will affect how we use our cell phones everyday, but with Verizon and others already jumping on board with their own versions of the iPhone you can tell that Apple has caused a ripple in the cellphone market.
