An alert saint joseph resident helps police catch an armed man.
Kevin Gwinn, of Chartion, Iowa, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a class c felony. St. Joseph Police arrested Gwinn Thursday afternoon after people called complaining of a suspicious man wearing a sweatshirt and rubber gloves parked on the lot at 3007 South Belt near several businesses.
A St. joseph Police spokesman says when officers arrived to the scene, Gwinn's white Ford van was found parked in front of Boogaloo's Restaurant, backed in with the motor running. Police located Gwinn and found a loaded 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun with pistol grips and alcohol in gwinn's vehicle.
Gwinn remains in the Buchanan County jail in lieu of a 35-thousand dollar bond.
The incident is still under investigation.
