A four-hour siege ended with the arrest of man who barricaded himself in his Buchanan County home north of Faucett, Mo.
Officers took Sean M. Edwards, 34, into custody at about 1:15 p.m. Friday in his residence, a trailer located at 2840 S.E. State Route H.
The incident started with a domestic violence call on the midnight shift at a residence in St. Joseph, said Buchanan County Sheriff Mike Strong. Officers believed Mr. Edwards physically injured his wife, Mr. Strong said. The woman got away from her husband and called 911, he said.
Mr. Edwards barricaded himself in the trailer with six or seven weapons when officers approached at 9 a.m. Friday, Mr. Strong said.
The Special Response Team, which includes officers from the St. Joseph Police Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department, was called out.
As a safety precaution, an armored personnel carrier was brought to the scene by two officers from the Leavenworth, Kan., Police Department, Mr. Strong said.
Associate Circuit Judge Ronald Taylor issued a warrant at 9:45 a.m. Friday and refused to allow Mr. Edwards bail.
Mr. Edwards is in custody at the Buchanan County Jail pending an arraignment on a charge of second-degree domestic assault, a felony. No date has been set.
