St. Joseph police responded to a call of a gorilla at the door of a residence in St. Joseph's North Side at 5 a.m. Monday.
Officers quickly realized that the creature was a 15-year-old boy trying to play a prank on a neighborhood friend. Instead, he targeted the wrong home by accident, according to Police Commander Jim Connors.
Police took the gorilla impersonator and another 15-year-old boy back to the original caller's residence in the 3100 block of Bristol Street, where they apologized for the prank.
While the incident was taken seriously, no charges were filed and the parties involved looked back on the incident as humorous.
"She then saw the humor in it," Mr. Connors said about the caller's reaction after the fact. "The trick to pranking is to make sure you get the right house."
