St. Joseph police responded to a call of a gorilla at the door of a residence in St. Joseph’s North Side at 5 a.m. Monday.
Officers quickly realized that the creature was a 15-year-old boy trying to play a prank on a neighborhood friend. Instead, he targeted the wrong home by accident, according to Police Commander Jim Connors.
Police took the gorilla impersonator and another 15-year-old boy back to the original caller’s residence in the 3100 block of Bristol Street, where they apologized for the prank.
While the incident was taken seriously, no charges were filed and the parties involved looked back on the incident as humorous.
“She then saw the humor in it,” Mr. Connors said about the caller’s reaction after the fact. “The trick to pranking is to make sure you get the right house.”

This is the funniest thing i have heard in a long time. guess it was hard to see the addresses with the gorilla suit on.
What a funny story! I am glad everyone had a good sence of humor! This is something they will all talk about for years to come.
Oh my goodness! Could you imagine looking out your front door and seeing a gorilla!? What a hoot!
i probably would have had to change my britches, however it would have been funny.
OMG, i could soooooo see one of my kids doing that even now, and they are all a lot older than this kid. toooooo funny and can you imagine the look on his face behind the gorilla mask when he realized he had the wrong house. lmao
Come on kid that's gorilla pranking 101.
Back in my day we took pride in our zoological themed pranks.
I am surprised they did not tazer the 15 year old boy
Or try to subdue the animal with a tranquilizer dart gun.
They were going to tazer him, but they had a wreck on the way there becuase they were driving too fast.
oh my how funny theshadow.
Well since there isn't any space for comments on that story, I can say that Ofc. Wedlow is a very well-respected member of the community and the department for real reasons. If he said something, I would believe it.
As for the prankster, I would love to hear the recording from the communications center. Probably a much-needed laugh that day.
TheShadow ..... I laughed and laughed at your comment...... thanks!!
That kid must be bananas!! = )
