Gorilla prankster hits wrong house
by Jennifer Hall
Tuesday, July 22, 2008

St. Joseph police responded to a call of a gorilla at the door of a residence in St. Joseph’s North Side at 5 a.m. Monday.

Officers quickly realized that the creature was a 15-year-old boy trying to play a prank on a neighborhood friend. Instead, he targeted the wrong home by accident, according to Police Commander Jim Connors.

Police took the gorilla impersonator and another 15-year-old boy back to the original caller’s residence in the 3100 block of Bristol Street, where they apologized for the prank.

While the incident was taken seriously, no charges were filed and the parties involved looked back on the incident as humorous.

“She then saw the humor in it,” Mr. Connors said about the caller’s reaction after the fact. “The trick to pranking is to make sure you get the right house.”

Well since there isn't any space for comments on that story, I can say that Ofc. Wedlow is a very well-respected member of the community and the department for real reasons. If he said something, I would believe it.

As for the prankster, I would love to hear the recording from the communications center. Probably a much-needed laugh that day.
