One-point-six million dollars, that is just how much the St. Joseph School District is planning to spend on summer improvements. Summer Capital Improvement Projects are going to be underway throughout district buildings.

The dome on the downtown building that houses the district offices and the St. Joseph Public Library is one of several projects crews are repairing. Other improvements range from boiler replacements to new auditorium chairs, as well as new windows, doors and roofs. About 35 of the district buildings are included in the list of 40 face lifts.

The most costly of the projects are a new $191,000 dollar parking lot at the expanding Hillyard Technical Center, $147,000 dollar refurbishing of high school tracks and a $142,000 dollar new roof at Truman Middle School.
