Eisenberg Sew & Vac has moved.

Owner Richard Eisenberg believes the new location will be better for the business he’s been in for more than 30 years.

“The customers seem to like it,” he said.

The store, at 1409 N. Belt Highway, is on the corner of Beck Road and the Belt Highway. Mr. Eisenberg said his regular customers had difficulty with parking and even finding the former location. The fact that the new store is twice as big is an added bonus.

After two months of extensive renovations, Mr. Eisenberg and his son, Scott Eisenberg, filled one moving truck packed with service parts alone and moved in, opening the store on May 1.

“That’s a big part of our business,” Mr. Eisenberg said of repair work.

The store features a wide variety of name brand vacuums and sewing machines as well as portable heaters, air cleaning systems and central vacuum systems. With the additional square footage, Mr. Eisenberg has added gifts and jewelry to his show room.

Decades ago, while a student at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo., Mr. Eisenberg began selling vacuum cleaners. At one time he had nine Kirby stores, he said. Now, he has two locations of Eisenberg Sew & Vac. His second store is in Kansas City, Mo.

“It’s a huge investment,” he said of the business.

Eisenberg will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. To contact the store, call 364-6065.
