Way to go

I am very pleased with the responses of the St. Joseph Police Department to gang activity in the South End. They have exactly the right idea to nip it in the bud before it goes completely wild and out of control and innocent people become the victims of assault or gunshot wounds or robbery.

Hard to see through

After watching and listening to Sen. Barack Obama for months now, I am firmly convinced that this man has a hidden agenda and there’s a very dark and sinister side that people aren’t picking up on. He appeals to young people because they are naive and do not have the world experience to look through Obama’s campaign.

Help please

I’m calling in reference to the traffic on Jimtown Road. We have called informing the police that we have drivers driving down here 45- to 50-plus mph down this short stretch. It’s unsafe. They don’t stop at the stop sign on Savannah Road. We would like to see some police enforcement along this little stretch. These people are just driving entirely too fast. It’s extremely unsafe. Can we get some help out here?

I laughed out loud at Alonzo Weston’s column about his romantic life at school. He said that he passed notes asking “Do you love me” with hand-drawn yes or no boxes for the girl to check and always got them back with the no box checked and the notary public seal affixed leaving no doubt about her true feelings about the matter.

Enough to worry about

As if I don’t have enough to worry about, my monthly gas and food prices are equal to my house payment. And now while dodging the dangerous potholes in St. Joseph I have to worry about grandma sitting on the street corner waiting to clock me. Someone needs to get their priorities straight. And by the way, who is going to protect grandma when an irate driver confronts her?

It goes both ways

I’m calling to comment about “Mad at dads” in today’s column. It also should read “Mad at moms.” I know several men who are left with their children and the women don’t pay child support. And I do know that men go to jail a lot faster than women do for not paying their child support. This isn’t right and people need to get their facts straight because it happens both ways. And more often than not anymore, these days the fathers end up with the kids and the mothers never pay their child support. So “Mad at dads” needs to get a clue. The women are worse than the men.

Can’t stop criminals

If we sent all the illegal immigrants back to their country, there wouldn’t be many people left. Illegal immigrants built this country. They came from several different countries. There was a farmer who had 500 head of milking cows and the workers were sent home with nobody to milk them. Yes, they could get the documents to come in this country. And of course the criminals and drug dealers shouldn’t be let in this country. The fence they are building to keep them out isn’t going to stop them from coming in.
