Former Missouri Western golfers Brad Nurski and Brice Garnett finished first and second, respectively, at Wednesday’s U.S. Open regional qualifer at The Golf Club at Creekmore in Raymore, Mo.
Nurski carded a 3-under 69 to finish three strokes ahead of Garnett, the only professional to qualify. The local duo will compete next at the sectional qualifier on June 2 in Augusta, Mo. with a bid to the U.S. Open — located in La Jolla, Calif. this year — on the line.
Steve Groom tied Garnett’s score, while amateurs Will Hogan, Jace Long and Dalton Owens also qualified for the event in a sudden death playoff that included three other players.
