Christ Episcopal to honor students

Christ Episcopal Church, 207 N. Seventh St., will hold its annual church-school recognition during its 10:15 a.m. service on May 18.

Also honored will be the church’s high school and college graduates for this year.

Southern-gospel quartet coming to St. Joseph

Eastside Baptist Church, 2400 N. Belt Highway, will have Four Fold, an all-male southern-gospel quartet, in concert at 6 p.m. May 18.

The group members make their home in Scotts Hill, Tenn., and will be in St. Joseph for this one event only. There is no charge for the concert, but a donation will be received. A nursery is available for babies.

Freedom Gospel Group to perform

The Freedom Gospel Group will perform at the Gospel Music Heritage Association, 102 Lewis St. in Edgerton, Mo., at 7 p.m. today.

Zion United Church of Christ to continue sesquicentennial

Zion United Church of Christ at Ninth and Faraon streets will continue its Sesquicentennial Festival during its 10:30 a.m. service May 18.

The speaker will be the Rev. Jeffrey A. Whitman, a newly elected conference minister of the Missouri Mid-South Conference of the United Church of Christ. He comes to Missouri from the Penn Central Conference, where he served as associate conference minister.

A native of Lebanon, Pa., he graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary. Prior to serving Penn Central, he served as a pastor in South Dakota and Pennsylvania.

A ham dinner will follow in the church’s fellowship hall. Everyone interested is invited to attend.
