Second Harvest starts a Food Fight
by Gretchen Mollenhour
Thursday, September 4, 2008

Hunger Action Month has just kicked off and to celebrate Second Harvest encourages local businesses to be part of a food fight. Food Fight 2008 is Second Harvest's way of getting corporations involved during Hunger Action Month. It is a corporate challenge food drive that will run September 8th through the 19th.

So far they have ten businesses signed up, but are encouraging more to sign-up. Any sized business is encouraged to participate. Development and Communications Coordinator Melissa Leander said the Food Fight is an easy way to help the less fortunate.

Businesses are divided up into three categories depending on their size. At the end of the food drive the business who collected the most food in each category will be awarded the golden can award.
