This is: John Goolsby
by Blake Hannon
Friday, September 5, 2008

The local St. Joe singer/songwriter has kept his plate full musically. He is the frontman and acoustic guitar player for the country group Shootin Blanks. He fronts an all-white R&B/blues cover band called the Caucasion Persuasion. Then there’s his solo work, which started off strongly influenced by John Mayer and has taken on aspects of his group projects, incorporating bluesy vocals, country’s bare-bones honesty and simple but effective melodies. “I feel like it’s starting to make a medley and just a stew-like quality of mixing all this different stuff together,” Goolsby says. John Goolsby will perform at 10 p.m. Sept. 6 at Kelly’s Pub. To hear Goolsby’s music, go to www.myspace.com/john goolsby.
