Gower man dies in accident

A Gower, Mo., man died in an accident near Coffey, Mo., Friday.

The accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. on Route B, just west of Coffey.

Johnny R. Roberts, 23, was traveling east in a Dodge on Route B when he crested a hill and struck a freightliner.

The freightliner, driven by David R. Jones, 66, Lebo, Kan., had been traveling on a gravel road and was in the process of turning onto Route B when it was struck.

The Dodge slid partially under the trailer of the freightliner and struck the front axle.

Mr. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Scott Labrozzi, 39, Princeton, Mo., was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center, where a spokeswoman said his condition was still being evaluated late Saturday.

Mr. Jones was not injured. No citations were issued.
