8-man travel notice
by Ross Martin
Thursday, September 18, 2008

For anyone wanting to see Union Star at Craig on Friday night, cancel your plans. Same goes for anyone hoping to catch Worth County versus Heartland on Saturday at Christian Field.

Neither game will be played this week due to forfeits.

Union Star called off its matchup with the cooperative Hornets, citing a lack of players. The Trojans also forfeited a game last year on the way to an 0-10 season.

Certainly hard times right now for the small school along U.S. Highway 169. Don't be surprised to see Union Star try to follow the same cooperative route as Craig and Fairfax, possibly with King City.

Heartland decided not to make the trip from Belton to St. Joseph, instead choosing to bypass the defending state champions. Apparently, losses of 83-0 last week to Stanberry and 68-0 two weeks ago to Mound City didn't create excitement to play another Northwest Missouri school right away.

Heartland's other game resulted in a 42-36 loss to Chilhowee in the inaugural game as MSHSAA-sponsored programs for both teams.
