Savannah might have missed an opportunity in the top of the sixth inning, or Benton's defense simply made another play to win.
It just depends on how you look at it.
After two errors led to two unearned runs for Savannah in the first, Benton's defense consistently kept the Savages at bay.
Savannah scored three runs during the sixth and seventh innings but had chances for more - especially in the sixth.
With runners on second third and one out, Travis Smither lined a shot into right field that Colton Garton snared on the run.
Garton delivered a strike to home plate, keeping Caleb Rickhof from tagging up and scoring.
Benton catcher Darrin Phroper then caught Hickman, who had just drove in a run with an infield single, too far between second and third base.
Phroper threw in behind him, and Ryan Pinson tagged him for the inning's final out.
But it wasn't the only highlight.
Phroper also caught Blake McFadden stealing in the third. He then tracked a dribbler out in front of the plate and delivered a strong throw to first to retire Jared Dewey in the second.
Austin Garton also made two sparkling catches in left field.
Garton's first big catch came in the third inning when he grabbed Rickhof's dying line drive. Garton twisted around, looking awkward, but ultimately tracking it down to strand runners on first and second.
