BETHANY, Mo. - A rolling car and no seat belt combined Wednesday to produce fatal results at Missouri routes W and F, about three miles northwest of Bethany.
Mathew D. Koontz, 47, was pronounced dead at the accident scene by Jeremy Evans, the Harrison County coroner.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Mr. Koontz drove a 2002 Ford across the center line of Route W and onto the left shoulder as he was driving north toward the intersection with Route F. Hr overcorrected and skidded off the right side before striking a fence. The Ford overturned twice, ejecting Mr. Koontz.
This was the first fatality of the month and the 14th for the year in the Troop H region of Northwest Missouri.
