Clothing retailer rallying for cancer patients

Dressbarn is rallying for the American Cancer Society. The retailer will be selling heart key rings at its stores, including the one at the Shoppes at North Village, for $5. The Relay For Life event kicked off on May 12 and runs until August 31, or while supplies last. The company will contribute the entire net profit to the American Cancer Society.

Land around Kansas City International Airport seems to be ripe for development. In addition to Bombardier’s potential jet manufacturing plant, a huge distribution center will be locating there, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

Save-A-Lot to close Thursday

Save-A-Lot is closing its grocery store in St. Joseph. The store is located at 1325 S. Belt Highway, in the shopping center near Westlake Ace Hardware.Save-A-Lot’s last day is Thursday, May 15, according to an employee at the store.

Sprint may be opening store

Sprint appears to be opening another store in St. Joseph. A building permit was submitted to the city for a tenant finish at 5403 N. Belt Highway. The tenant was listed as Sprint with a cost of $50,000.

Avenue repairs going deep

Quiznos opened Wednesday in the Pony Express Plaza. I haven’t called the owner Trevor Dryden yet to see how it’s going so far, but I may stop in to get a sandwich and see for myself.
