RUSHVILLE, Mo. — A 20-year-old St. Joseph woman was thrown out of the vehicle she was a passenger in after a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 59 early Saturday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred about three miles south of Rushville, as a 1984 Dodge pickup turned left onto U.S. Highway 59 from Missouri Highway 45 and struck a 2000 Chevrolet SUV, the report said.

The vehicles struck at the intersection, and Alexandra A. Delay, a passenger in the Dodge, was thrown out. She suffered moderate injuries.

Ms. Delay, and the Dodge’s driver, Candace L. Reynolds, 20, of St. Joseph, who suffered serious injuries, were transported to Atchison Hospital in Atchison, Kan. A nursing supervisor there said she was not allowed to release their conditions.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Darin E. Pond, 40, of St. Joseph, was not injured. A passenger in his vehicle, Melodie J. Pond, 35, of St. Joseph, suffered minor injuries. She was being evaluated at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

The patrol issued Ms. Reynolds a summons for failure to yield when turning left and no seat belt. Ms. Delay also was issued a no seat belt summons.
