CAMERON Mo. — A Missouri State Highway Patrol officer suffered minor injuries after an accident early Saturday morning.

Bradley E. Maudlin, 23, Gallatin Mo., was traveling northbound on Missouri Route EE just north of Cameron, Mo., when he lost control of the patrol car he was driving on a curve.

Mr. Maudlin was en route to assist a DeKalb County officer when the accident occurred.

His vehicle traveled off the east side of the roadway, returned to the roadway and then traveled off the west side of the roadway. The patrol car then spun one complete time and traveled over a concrete retaining wall and struck another retaining wall on the other side of a creek bed. The vehicle came to rest in the creek.

Mr. Maudlin was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Estimated damage of the patrol car was a total loss.

And did he receive a ticket for failure to drive on the roadway? I'm always amazed that people who have an accident that is totally out of their control often receive tickets for running off the roadway - even though they may have been dodging a deer or hit loose gravel . . .

And why would he receive a ticket? Your always amazed why citizens get a ticket for the same thing? Citizens are requirred to drive the speed limit, usually don't. You drive down the road using your cell phone, he drives exceeding the limit, listening to several police channels, watching for hazards. He was responding to a call, to help another person, remember, you call 911, he is 911. No he will not get a ticket. After the accident review board meets, he will loose 4-7 days pay, far more than any ticket you would get.
