Great balls
of fire
I agree, people should have the right to firecrackers. However, they should have to keep them on their own property. I am 82, I’ve lived in this wooden home 35 years. I can tell you, airborne balls of fire are not legal in this city. This was the worst year I’ve ever seen. Until 3 a.m., all sorts of missiles landed on my house and in my yard. For three days and nights there was no rest around here. Do your fireworks all you want, but keep them on your own property.

Seeking help
I’m calling about the people who are restoring the older homes so they don’t get demolished. That’s a very good idea. Is there an organization to help people buy older homes? Can anybody tell me about loaning companies or programs that are set aside for this need?

Rifles and
abortions
I guess I’m one of those people who is pro-choice. I personally would not want to have an abortion and think that it’s a bad thing. But I’m for the right of women to make that choice for themselves. It’s like the NRA. They don’t want to kill anybody, but they think everybody should have the choice to own a gun just in case they need to kill somebody. I don’t see a whole lot of difference there.

Bush, the sequel
In the year 2000 we elected a man named George Bush and he didn’t know his body parts from a hole in the ground. And now there’s a man running by the name of John McCain who is going to do Bush’s policy on our foreign programs. And he says he knows nothing about economics. And we are all asking who should we vote for, McCain or Obama. And McCain is acting just like Bush did in 2000, but he doesn’t know the first thing about what’s going on.

Don’t need it
The morning paper says our power to run the utility companies here is slowly slipping away. Well, that is because of our lame-brained City Council. They let this nature center come in that we didn’t need. And these walking trails along the Parkway, we didn’t need when every street in this town needs repairing. How could the city run the utility company if they can’t even run the street department?
In response to Bush, the sequel which says,"And we are all asking who should we vote for, McCain or Obama." I know who I'll be voting for. Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party's candidate. The Constitution Party candidates will be on the ballot in November. You can get some info at, http://www.constitutionpartymo.org/ballot_access.html
God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Posted by Rockchalk on July 15, 2008 at 11:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)I think at this point a vote for any "third-party" candidate is basically a wasted vote. Unfortunately, the Dems and the GOP have a stranglehold on the electoral process. They seem to have the ability to control the discussion and to shut any "alternative" candidates out of the debate. While I generally don't bash the press, I think that they are part of the problem, because they simply lap up what is fed to them by the two major parties' spokespeople. If they would be willing to put the money/effort into actual newsgathering, they would take the time to look in to the other parties' candidates.
Personally, I would like to see the Libertarian candidates get more coverage, but I would welcome the debate with all comers--Constitution Party, Greens, etc.
