It’s not the Dems

This is in regard to the person slamming the Democratic Congress because they think that they haven’t voted on lowering the gas prices. Well, when George W. Bush took office, gas prices from the Clinton administration were $1.48 a gallon. Seems that the Republicans in office right now are to blame for the higher gas prices, not the Democratic Congress. Our commander in chief shouldn’t have allowed the higher gas prices to begin with. He should have said to the Saudi government, “No, this is what we are going to pay you for a barrel of gas,” not the other way around. It seems like our Republican president is the one who is letting Saudi Arabia and its oil mongers walk all over the American people, not the Democratic party.

Keep to yourself

It’s not too hard to imagine if someone stole your kitty cat, well, I’m sure somebody with your mentality would see it that way. Myself, my parents told me if it’s not yours, don’t bother it. Leave it alone, don’t touch it, don’t take it. I don’t even think my parents probably would have had to tell me that after I got older, but they instilled that when I was younger, so I use that all through my life. If you don’t know well enough to leave other people’s things alone, I feel sorry for you. Bad things are going to happen to you.

Use the paper

“Beware, young readers”: Well, welcome to the real world. You can nurture them and hide them from the real world until they get to the real world and see for themselves, or you can show them what the real world is like. Drag bothers you? Then let them know why you think it’s wrong. Try to explain it to them as best as you can. It’s pretty hard to explain drag, I would think. Anyway, I’m saying the good is good and the bad is bad, and you need to teach your children the difference, so use the paper.

Political

no-call list?

I do wish the political calls would stop. I’m not feeling well, and I don’t appreciate having five, six and seven of them a day. Thank you. How can I get it stopped?

Barn cats

are pets too

This is to the person about keeping our kittens inside. For your information, we live in the country and have an acreage. They are barn cats, and regardless of that, they are still our pets and we care about them. It wasn’t very good for someone to come up into our driveway, obviously because they left tracks, and take those kittens. I don’t care what you or anyone else thinks.

To its not the dems, let me get this right. You think President Bush should be able to go over and tell the Saudi government to tell the oil mongers that America sets the oil prices and oil can not sell for any more than we are willing to pay. Wow great idea, maybe we should try that with our oil executives. Oh thats right, we brought them before the Senate and that was a joke.
Here is my question to all you Bush haters. Why do you think the price of a barrel of oil has gone down?

Here’s a video that everyone needs to see.

It opens with Republican Mitch McConnell trying to get the democrats to lift the ban on off shore drilling. When democrat Ken Salazar refused, McConnell asked if Salazar would change his mind if gas hit $4.50 per gallon and continued to $10.00 per gallon with Salazar objecting each time.

This should clear up the question – for anyone – of who is responsible for high oil prices.

On another note - by all accounts I've seen, it seems there are enough votes - with both Republicans and democrats - to lift this ban. However, Pelosi refuses to allow a vote on the floor.

Why?

because she doesn't want any chance of an amendment being added to open up drilling in ANWR, because she is controlled by the extreme liberal left and the environmental lobby.

"It's not the Dems"

You would benefit from a lesson in economics. Start with supply and demand curves and then move into the realm of finance and study the commodities market.

AN OPEN LETTER TO SPEAKER PELOSI

On Friday August 1, 2008, at 11:23 a.m., your Democrat majority in the House of Representatives adjourned the House for five full weeks.

House Republicans believe that Congress should not go on vacation until we take action to lower gas and energy prices for struggling American families.

For the last two months we and our House Republican colleagues have used every tool at our disposal to try and get you and your Democrat majority to vote on legislation to lower gas and energy prices by expanding environmentally sound domestic production of oil and natural gas, improving energy efficiency, and encouraging the development of alternative energy technologies.

Many of the proposals we have asked you and your Democrat majority to allow us to vote on are bipartisan proposals that we believe would enjoy the support of a majority of the Members of the Congress. Yet because you and your Democrat Leadership personally oppose these proposals, you are not allowing them to come up for a vote. This past Sunday, you even told George Stephanopoulos that you will never allow this vote to occur (see transcript on the reverse).

In protest of you and your Democrat majority not allowing an up or down vote on producing more American energy, we and our House Republican colleagues were prepared to take to the floor on Friday, August 1, 2008, and speak to the nation. Rather than allowing that to happen you and your Democrat majority adjourned the House, turned off the television cameras, shut off the microphones and turned out the lights. Nearly 50 House Republicans remained on the floor of the House in defiance speaking to those citizens gathered in the galleries and to the media.

Today we have again returned to the Capitol to continue speaking to the thousands of Americans from all across our country who are visiting the Capitol. We would have preferred if instead we were joined by our colleagues to have a true debate on this issue that ended in an up or down vote.

We think it is unconscionable that Congress has gone on vacation before we have addressed the high gas prices that are crippling our economy and hurting millions of families. We are asking that you reconvene the House from your five-week vacation and schedule a vote on legislation to increase American energy production. Let us be clear, we are not asking for a guaranteed outcome, just the chance to vote.

Signed by: John Boehner, Republican Leader; Roy Blunt, Republican Whip; Adam Putnam, Republican Conference Chairman; Eric Cantor, Chief Deputy Whip; and Members of the House Republican Conference

I agree!! Especially the calls here in the last week that are just totally negative and unlike commercials, whomever is putting these out do not have to claim them, therefore they can smear candidates with outright lies. Representative Ed Wildberger has been trying for years to get these auto dialer calls added to the no call list along with the fax auto dialers in HB1633. For some reason he cannot seem to get it out of committee and onto the house floor. Try writing some of the other Representatives from this area and maybe next year they can get it pushed through!

PHONE CALL PROBLEM: I used to work at a company that used the automated calling system. The computer could tell if the call was disconected by the person being called, if it had the computer would call back at a later time. I too have been bombarded with these annoying calls. At first I thought they were prank calls since it takes so long for the computer to start the recording. The next time the phone rang with one of these calls I placed the phone down and finished what I was doing and then hung up. The calls decreased by I'd say 80-90%. You might try this too.

politicians dont want to add their calls to the no call list, cause the calls benefit them. Thats why its so tough to get passed.

On a more important note...does it matter that it's only August 4th? Why are these comments entitled for August 5th? :)

More proof that Obama is a liar...... This is who the Democrats are all so proud of?

"In stumping Tuesday in this key battleground state, Obama sought to link the troubled economy with Republican policies and offer his own energy plan in contrast. He has tried to cast McCain as more concerned about oil company profits and drilling than an overall energy strategy.

However, Obama himself voted for a 2005 energy bill backed by Bush that included billions in subsidies for oil and natural gas production, a measure Cheney played a major role in developing. McCain opposed the bill on grounds it included billions in unnecessary tax breaks for the oil industry."
