Bob joined the St. Joe Now team in the summer of 2007 after spending 26 years in radio broadcasting and voice work in the St. Joseph and Kansas City markets.

Bob began his broadcast career in the 70's as a high school radio station deejay. He eventually entered commercial radio by becoming "Dave Knight", the weekend night deejay on KKJO 1550-AM. Bob went on to become involved in all aspects of radio including news, sales and management.

Bob left the business for a few year and followed in his father's footsteps working at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory and St. Joseph Memorial Park. He returned to the world of news journalism in 2007.

"Once you have media...especially news, in your blood, it's pretty hard to get away from it," Heater says, "you always want to bring your audience the best video and audio from the scene of the story. You want to be able to put them there with the story."

Bob spends a lot of time on and off the job listening to scanners (a 35 year hobby) also "very amateur photography" and acting when time permits, in local theater. Bob and his wife, Jackie, have two grown sons and two grandsons. The later, spend a lot of time with Grandpa fishing, flying model rockets and watching Spongebob Squarepants!
