Obama recently said he is not going to increase the tax for the rich as much, if at all "after review of the current situation", he's just another politician.......
Broken campaign promises, all too common.
The other day, he almost frantically said "I'm not a miracle worker" -
Oh boy, that did not help my confidence, who did he think he was talking too? Do the politicians really this we are all that ignorant?
Are we?
Hey - How about finding those murderers who killed him?
Is it going to get real quiet in here now?

Since we're talking about foreign policy; check out this report from Reuters that explains why some Dutch cities are considering a rethink of legalized marijuana. The mayors are not seeing a ban a solution; rather want to "discourage use of it." If it's such a harmless drug, why would anyone want to discourage use of it?

From one of the links you posted:
"He added that the problem is not the fact the Netherlands has coffee shops, the problem is that other countries don't."
They also mentioned a lack of controls, or a plan.
American is great at controls and planning.
New tax revenues generated, police able to focus on other far more serious crimes, significant funding to criminals is eliminated -
Now you've got me started!

what about reparations to the descendants of this hate-crime victim?
_____________________________________________________________
I think that would not be wise for a lot of reasons.
If that is the case, why not punish the descendants of the people who were in charge, such as the sheriff?
Basically, is was murder, who were those that killed this man?
There is not a statue of limitation on murder, right?
I think that would be a lot better than financial reparations . . .

You're welcome for the link, I hope more people went to it and realized something.
The reason marijuana is illegal -
It's all about the money, and those making it now want it to remain illegal.....

I do not think they are considering any memorials in Skidmore....

What is even scarier is a lot of people in this area still hold hard to those old beliefs.....
Racism is alive and well in St. Joe
I was in one local business with my 12 year old son prior to the election. The owner made an extremely negative comment about Obama, using the "N" word - my son immediately turned and walked out, I am proud of him.
Following shortly after, I stayed long enough to listened in awe at his rant and those there in agreement with him.
Numerous people where I work are what I consider to be extreme racist. Some have told be stories of how they used to beat up the gay kids, with great glee.
We need reminders, such as this article, to help point out these people and hopefully, as slowly coming as it may seem at times, make changes.
The City of St. Joseph had that article posted on their web site for years, up until recently. With a picture of the actual lynching, I believe. And I remember considering moving at that time......
That was a sad day, but do not be fooled, those people that took law into their own hands are still alive and well here in our home town.
They've just taken it underground, ironic in a way.

wr49tm, those things you mentioned and more are true about other legal substances, alcohol being one.
Many of the prescribed drugs doctors give out are far more harmful.
In your world, it seems to me a lot of other substances should also be illegal, but illegal is not the same thing as unavailable......
Think about it.
People are going to get it, I feel it would be better to have some quality controls in place.

I have to wonder who actually read the article......
If she has not authority, why make such a huge deal out of this?
Answer why the ratings are not made public for facilities within the city limits - how many restaurant within the city limits have that many violations?
It seems as though they want to bully themselves into the county, interesting.
Must be the age of the bully.....
