MichaelH, if my old feeble brain serves me correctly (and I know it does) the Missouri Iron & Steel were there LONG before the 229 by-pass was put in. Looks like you need to blame the highway surveyors and not a business that's served St. Joseph so well throughout their existence. MI&S was there before the so-called 'entertainment' district was where it is, also.

Trixie - the way to get a group in St. Joseph is for you to start it! All it takes is word of mouth, a place to meet together, and enthusiasm from people with like thoughts. Contact one of the local charity groups, a nursing home, or some type shelter and I'd bet you could gain access to a meeting room. Start the ball rolling and others will join you when you least expect it.

Pops,
My thoughts exactly, though you said it much better than I could. It angers me so much because people are blaming us (the US) for starting this war. No one remembers 9/11 where the majority of the Saudi terrorists were trained in Iraq. Nor do people realize that whether or not our military found weapons of mass destruction, they were there - they just moved them out to neighboring countries (there are supporters close by) before we got our ducks in a row. The media can easily be blamed for promoting the idea to just walk away . . . and people aren't intelligent enough to see through that.

What a biased article!!!! Of all the political calls I've received during this campaign, all have been from the Obama camp except ONE . . . and I get one or two calls every day. They have all started by slamming McCain. Anyone running for office who has enough money to pay for this type of exposure surely will increase our federal budget deficit in a hurry. Likewise, I receive one or two mailings a day through USPS from the Obama campaign . . . what waste of precious resources!

I've written to Sylvia before requesting addresses and/or contact information on her good eats finds. I was taught that the first rule of journalism was to include who, what, where, when and why. I never see the WHERE in her reports.

Ah, dear Alice - do you actually think the majority of WOMEN are going to feel the same way you do? As a female, I find Sarah a breath of fresh air. You probably have a job outside your home and have allowed other people to influence your children and watch them grow. What a shame to let others mold them . . . but, I too worked outside the home, and I know. As the manager of a huge operation in a major oil company for over 15 years, I found that if you want a job done you ask the busiest person you can find. Guaranteed they will meet the deadline. Sarah may have her plate full with furry critters, but that just give her the opportunity to get the job done. She's shown she's more than capable.

Ms. Burton - when have you ever heard of a politician telling the truth? I wouldn't believe anything Obama says either - if you can't lie effectively, you just can't run for office. Tell the unsuspecting public what they want to hear and then do whatever you choose once you have them cow-towed and are in office. Good Luck to this country (you included) if Obama gets his way.
